CONGRATULATIONS! to our fantastic Executive Chef, Dennis Simonson, (also passionate Writer and resident Rock Star) who brought home The Gardens' twelfth """"Outstanding Resident Service Award"""" (in as many years) from CALA - the Connecticut Assisted Living Association. Dennis deserves every drop of glory we can shower over him for his tempting, creative recipes; his wonderful diplomacy in dealing with many different individuals' idea of the perfect meal and his loyalty and dedication to making sure that the residents of The Gardens receive fresh, nutritious and delicious food here in their home. Whether it's a summer picnic, an elegant spread or just some wings and other hors d'oeuvres for an afternoon Happy Hour, you can count on it being a treat for the eye as well as the taste buds.
Autumn is the time Dennis and his staff really get to shine, when we hold our annual Open House Celebration, An Autumn Evening at The Gardens. This year he will be preparing a fabulous buffet including sautéed lobster, jumbo shrimp and sea scallops; Angus tenderloin and scampi-style chicken; not to mention sumptuous sides and delectable desserts! It's a grand party for our residents and their families and everyone always has a wonderful time.
Some other news on the Dietary Department front: Luciana made the sad (for us, but very good for her) decision to be a stay-at-home mom for her beautiful new daughter, Sofia, so we have hired a couple of wonderful guys for our kitchen, Sous Chef Louis Macol and part-time cook, Dan Rooney. Welcome to the family, guys!
